Court won't force Calif officials to defend Prop 8
A California court has refused to order Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Attorney General Jerry Brown to appeal a ruling that overturned the state's gay marriage ban. A 22-year-old man has been accused of a hate crime following an altercation outside a Lincoln gay bar. Massachusetts may approve of same-sex marriage, but the Roman Catholic Church does not, and it emphatically does not. This is why Christine M. Judd is no longer the athletic director and dean of students at Cathedral High School. Judd married her wife back in August, and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield did not approve. Thus, they did their best to force her to leave. Judd stated of her departure "I was given a choice of termination or resignation. I'm hurt, but I wish the best for Cathedral, its students, the parents, the athletic teams, administration and faculty. I bleed purple." Purple is the school's color. A gay-friendly Utah state senator who stepped in to finish the term of a fellow Democrat who left office early now faces an openly gay Republican opponent for his seat in the state's legislative body. Christine Judd An instructor at a Massachusetts Catholic School has lost her job following her wedding to her female life partner. The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) will hold a volunteer orientation event at Chicago's Center on Halsted on Monday, September 13 from 6:00-8:00pm As if the Pentagon's process for reviewing the Don't Ask, Don't Tell (DADT) policy wasn't convoluted enough already, the Army just stepped up to the plate and seems to be trying to change the game. According to a September 2nd, 2010 Army News Service release, the Army now has an online inbox soliciting comments about the possible repeal of DADT. While many people questioned the Department of Defense's (DoD) intentions and methods in preparing for possible repeal, at least there was a level of transparency from Secretary Gates and Admiral Mullen. Gates established the Comprehensive Review Working Group (CRWG) to look at the policy implications of repeal and the DoD set about on the estimated $4.4 million process of surveying the troops and their families about repeal of DADT.
